A Ghost in the Machine (The Brother William Saga)
Katarina Tesla, ward of the famous inventor and an impressive scientist herself faces a difficult reality. Either she is going mad, or she is possessed by a mythical being that her scientific nature denies exists. Either way, Kat starts demonstrated an exceptional skill for violence that makes her friends uncomfortable.

When she is accused of killing a priest, Kat must evade her friends and the police to try and identify the true killer, someone who bears a remarkable similarity to Jack the Ripper. The Brother William Saga is a series of interlocking stories that start in 1889. These adventures take Will and his friends from America to Europe, from the vaults of the Vatican Archives, to the pits of Hell itself. Along the way the group weaves in and out of historical events, crossing paths with personages of note, participating in historical events, learning that fictional accounts are often based on facts, and uncovering secret connections between people and places that history has forgotten. The lines between 'what is' true and what 'may be' true blur in this new genre of Historical Fantasy.
